ABOUT ARTIST

Pianist Chia-Chi Hsu is active on the classical-music scene and has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians, including Peter-Lukas Graf, Trevor Wye, Robert Aitken, Shigenori Kudo, Amy Porter, Sharon Bezaly, Judith Mendenhall, Karl Kraber, Mayuko Kamio, Philippe Bernold, Loïc Schneider, Vincent Lukas, Sarah Louvion, Juliette Hurel, Gaby Pas-Van Riet, Karl Leister, Andrea Oliva, Paul Edmund-Davies, Michael Martin Kofler, Matvey Demin, Denis Bouriakov, Kersten McCall, Alena Walentin, Mathieu Dufour, and soprano Sumi Jo.

 

Recognized for her detailed interpretations and command of operatic repertoire, Hsu works as a vocal coach and rehearsal conductor, collaborating closely with artists and creative teams. Her credits include productions at the National Taichung Theater (The Barber of Seville, Tannhäuser, The Magic Flute, La Cenerentola, Falstaff, The Land of Smiles), Ben Fang Music (The Turn of the Screw), and the Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival (Carmen, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, L’elisir d’amore, Tosca, Rigoletto).

 

Hsu trained at the National Academy of Arts (now the National Taiwan University of Arts) and earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Her studies were guided by Tu Chiung-Ying, Ma Shu-Chuan, Lin Kung-Chin, Chuo Yu-Bi, Lü Hsueh-Ying, Vera Danchenco, Ellen Mack, and Thomas Grubb. She currently serves on the faculty of National Taiwan Normal University and Shih Chien University.

Hsu has released piano solo album, I wish you love, by Rising Sun Records, as well as multiple chamber music albums. Among them, Liberté won the Best Performance Award at the 35th Golden Melody Awards.
